Diego Castano

Diego Castano enters his second season with the Spiders as an assistant coach.

Castano was a four-year letterwinner in men's tennis at Liberty University. During his time as a student-athlete at Liberty, he finished top five in career-record wins for both singles and doubles.

He has multiple wins over ACC, SEC and Big Ten players and was a team captain at Liberty. Castano also was a representative in the student-athlete advisory committee. He obtained both a Masters and Bachelors degree while being a student-athlete at Libery.

• Won the Black doubles flight at the N.C. State Invite in the fall with partner Alex Poynter
• Named to Big South All-Academic team
• Named to Big South Presidential Honor Roll
• Led the squad with 21 doubles victories (11 spring, 10 fall)
• Strung together five doubles victories in a row, spanning three tournaments in the fall (South Carolina Upstate Fall Classic, Elon Fall Invitational and ITA Atlantic Regional)
• Captured three or more doubles matches in a row on four occasions.
• Third on the team with 15 singles wins, including 10 in the spring season
• Won four straight singles bouts from March 13-22
• Finished year ninth place in program history in career singles victories with 49

• Collected nine singles wins during the spring campaign
• Totaled 11 doubles wins with partner David Bush during the spring campaign
• Posted a 4-4 Big South record in singles play
• Earned a 6-2 Big South record in doubles play
• Notched eight singles wins and two doubles wins during the fall season

• Named Big South Freshman of the Week on Jan. 29 and March 11
• Finished the spring season with 22 overall wins
• Ranked second on the squad in doubles wins with 11 victories during the spring campaign
